As the trusted in house journalist, my intern director Cassie Young assigned me to write up an article for the web after the show's cast got into a heated discussion over the issue while on air.

Let this Facebook Live video serve as an example of how I would promote my stories on social media. When I'm on a story I always consider how the story may best live or be enhanced on social media. As I saw every station in the market (and more) attended the press conference and knew the audience would see the same footage no matter what newscast was on that evening, I decided to Facebook Live the event and give the audience an exclusive they wouldn't see elsewhere.

Top of the Hearst Building in New York City. I have yet to see a better view (even on this cloudy day). In my time participation of this trip, I was selected from over 100 applicants to network with professionals and talent at Good Morning America, The Today Show, Inside Edition, Cosmopolitan, The Tonight Show, etc.

The story which I produced and pitched myself, would eventually go on to be the Red & Black's most read article of 2015

This is my most recent work. While I did not shoot the footage, the editting, copy, and ideas (for stand-ups and some soundbites) are all my own. To see footage I shot myself you can click on the Student Newscast: MMJ packages on the last row of my portfolio, though it was produced 6 months prior to this reel.

I was asked to join a panel discussion by a student for her youtube channel. Keeping in my news aspirations, I did my best to limit opinions and instead tried to bring new or opposing information to the discussion so that the audience may remain interested or receive information that general media sources might have missed.

During the month of October in my time at Grady Newsource, Breast Cancer Awareness Stories were all the producers seemed to want. There was no shortage of pitches on Breast Cancer Awareness but no one had a source with Breast Cancer willing to share their story. I leveraged a close connection through my part time job and was able to encourage her to share her story with our audience.

in 2016, I spent the summer interning with a digital news agency in Los Angeles. During this time we traveled to Pasedena, CA for Politicon. 2016 Libertarian Presidential Gary Johnson happened to be there and I had the honor of interviewing him. I also vlogged the experience for my friends and family back home.

Some reporters may groan at the thought of covering a "boring symposium". I found the experience to be quite exciting and was able to feature real people/stories in my package at an otherwise rehearsed symposium.
